On October 18th, the Marlington Dukes won a hard-fought match against the Canton South Wildcats with a final score of 42-27.
The Wildcats took over the first quarter with a score of 0-7 and Marlington regained possession with two minutes remaining.
Senior, Anthony Sabatino ran through Canton South to score a touchdown early in the second quarter, with Junior, Macagey Laure adding an extra point. In only a minute, Canton South moved through the Dukes and sprinted over fifty yards for another touchdown. The kick was not good totaling their points to thirteen.
Junior, Adam Blasiman caught the ball from the Wildcat’s kick-off and passed it to Senior, Andrew Pucci which ran it down the field for another touchdown. Laure once again kicks for an extra point making it 14- 13. With five minutes remaining in the quarter, Sabatino scores another touchdown with Laure adding the extra point.
By the third quarter, both teams scored again. Canton South was able to score a touchdown from an interception thrown by the Dukes. Sabatino scored a touchdown and Laure had another good kick.
One minute into the fourth quarter, Andrew Carr was able to add six points for the Dukes along with another extra point by Laure making the score 35- 20.
The Wildcats were able to score one last time before the game's end. Marlington’s Nolan Hooker added six more points with Laure, not disappointing fans, once again having a good kick.
The Dukes are currently 4-0 in the EBC and 6-2 overall. They will face West Branch next Friday at the Warriors’ home field.
