Science Fair Judge’s Point of View

During science fair, judges from Marlington faculty and the community as a whole come to rank the students competing between superior or good. Judges are usually experts in their fields when asked to come to science fair. They can specialize in biology, engineering, chemistry, or any science-related field. Mrs Morrison, one of Marlington’s chemistry teachers, judged for the 2019 science fair.

Mrs Morrison, one of Marlington’s chemistry teachers, judged for the 2019 science fair. She went on to tell what exactly she looks for when judging the students and their projects in science fair.

“How well did the students apply the scientific method, did they really do research, did they use sources that were creditable for science and not just use google or yahoo. Also how well does their board represent what they did, do they have pictures that are applicable or did you just throw it all together. If they can actually answer questions about their project so that [the judge] knows [the students] really understood what they were doing or were [the students] just part of the process. Also I take into account if this is their second year of science fair or first year. If it’s their second they should know what to expect.”
