Order on the court
The boys’ basketball 2018-2019 record was 14-10 (8-4 EBC), ending the season in second place for the EBC. As the school year progresses the boys’ basketball team starts their 2019-2020 season.
With a new season beginning there are two returning starters and lettermen, seniors Andrew Pucci, guard and Cameron Bennett, forward. Returning lettermen include Ryan Cooley, senior guard; Nik Tortola, senior guard; Conner Evanich, Sophomore Forward.
Marlington lost the following starters from last year Blane Himmelheber, Reece Kackley, Markavien Mason and Cameron Beachy.
Mr. Evanich Describes his coaching style as “Organized, Intense, Caring, Detailed, Energetic and Proud.” His hopes for the season is to “win the EBC and play for a District Championship.”
In an interview with Andrew Pucci where he discussed potential threats in the EBC, he believes that Alliance High School is well coached and has some athletes; West Branch High School also has skill and some height that the Marlington boys will have to try and stop.
Andrew Pucci also believes that their biggest challenges this year will be rebounding and learning how to play as a team again with losing their seniors from last year. He stated “This year I feel that we have a chance to win the league title. Along with that I think we should be able to get more than 14 wins this year.”
When he was asked if he had anything to say to younger classmen what would it be he stated, “Well this is my senior year already. I would want to tell them that it truly does go by faster than what you think. And I would want to tell them that I would go all out every time I’d get the chance to on game night.”
Upcoming games in November will be on the 19th against Perry High School at Perry High School. November 23rd against New Philadelphia High school at Marlington High school. November 30th against Canfield High School at Canfield High School.
