OMEA State Marching Finals

The Marching Dukes of Marlington attended OMEA State Marching Finals on Saturday, November 9th at Brunswick High School, receiving an Excellent rating. Although the season has been an emotional rollercoaster for many, it finally drew to a close.

For their final competition, the band was able to perform their show among other schools that were worthy of Superior ratings earlier in the season. Although the band has long since completed their show, small details, such as choreography, were added within the weeks leading up to their final performance.

State finals consist of a different format from normal marching competitions, being made up of blocks of bands and smaller awards ceremonies after each one, rather than one large ceremony at the end of the entire competition. Marlington performed in a block along with Perkins, Revere, Norton, Firestone and Willoughby South High Schools.

After a frigid performance in nearly-freezing temperatures, Marlington received an Excellent rating, or a II, overall.

The Marching Dukes will return to march again on Memorial Day for several parades, but will officially begin their concert season to prepare for their Holiday Concert on Thursday, December 12th at 7 pm.
