Marching Dukes Attend Zips Invitational

On Saturday, September 28th, the Marching Dukes of Marlington performed at the University of Akron’s “Zips Invitational” to compete against various OMEA marching bands.


The Marching Dukes once again presented their show “RBG” to the crowd with the addition of more props, music, and choreography compared to their performance the previous Saturday. The show featured soloists Chance Gaczkowski on Soprano Saxophone, Karina DeLeon on Marching French Horn and Breanna Baumgarten on Trumpet.

The band competed against Louisville and Lexington High School in Class A at the Akron competition, placing third. With major improvement from last weekend, the band earned an overall II, or Excellent rating.


The band will compete again in two weeks on Saturday, October 12th at Norton High School’s “Art in Motion” competition.
